“It is a fact that in the settlement of Artsakh conflict the OSCE Minsk Group has a great importance. Russia and France’s role as big countries is particularly emphasized. The conflict should have a peaceful settlement. In that context we should closely cooperate with Azerbaijan, which will enable us to solve the problem not quickly, but slowly and reasonably”, explains German Bundestag Member, Albert Valier. He is convinced that the reasonable solution of the issue presupposes a way of bilateral concessions.
Answering to our view, implying that Azerbaijan shows with its bellicose policy that it does not want to negotiate around concessions, he said: “We should make a decision with Azerbaijan, not against Azerbaijan. In that question Russia, as one of the co-chairing countries of Minsk Group, can play a role of a good “moderator” for the issue to be settled as well as possible. That is, the expression of the good will of a third country will be beneficial, by the concessions from both sides.”
Albert Valier believes that Russia maintains very good relations with Armenia: “But Russia has very good relations with Azerbaijan as well. As a big country, it can have an essential influence on the resolution of Artsakh conflict. For that objective, any opportunity is to be used for the peaceful resolution of the conflict.”
