Difficult to oppose to majority

December 26,2017 13:14

I should confess, that General Seyran Saroyan’s lecture on morals did not make me feel rejoice. I do not understand why the ignorant judgments of a “rural philosopher” are so funny. Is there a humor present in undeveloped thinking? Why should limited outlook be ridiculous by itself? The General was, most possibly, pronouncing his speeches seriously, he did not claim for the role of a clown, but it was being delivered as a humor, which I, frankly speaking, do not understand. Everyone’s perception of humor is individual, nevertheless. As there is no friend to taste, there is no friend to humor as well.

I am concerned only with another, more fundamental issue. The “remedies” suggested by those people (for example – for getting drunk, helping to vomit), leave an influence on the society. I do not exclude that someone thinking as I do, will perhaps try to speak as the General did, using his expressions and vocabulary to feel himself a “strong guy” in any given surroundings. And now imagine that the General falls in the surrounding of people like me. Will he try to speak in a more restrained and measured way? Of course not. What comes out? They have an influence on us, and we do not have an influence on them at all.

And this is the case not only in the condition of unruly preaching of “old-fashioned thinking”. This is the case also with any limited bourgeoisie thinking. People seek for and find thousands of justifications everywhere on why they are bad citizens. “I have switched on “rabis” music in my “transport” and I smoke. And is it good that those wealthy people have built castles for themselves?” “I, being a traffic cop, take 5000 drams from drivers. And is it good that they eat millions there in the top?” “I take away my son from army service. And is it good that the sons of the oligarchs do not serve?” And in this case similarly, it is more difficult to oppose to such thinking and when such conversations begin in the street or on Facebook (and they are ceaseless, actually) it seems it is wiser to remain silent or complain from “injustices” together with this mass, than to speak up your own opinion. Inasmuch as even the people, the mental level of whose is essentially higher than General Seyran’s, would like to wheedle the majority and complain.

I continue thinking that if I do not do “my share” of illegality, then the number of illegalities will decrease in the country by 1/3 000 000. Unfortunately, solely a few hundreds of people agree with me.
