ANNOUNCEMENT
The conference of Journalists’ Union of Armenia will take place on December 28, which will elect a new staff and head of the Union Board. It is an important event for the Armenian journalist community, especially that for the first time in the past three decades it will take place in an open, competitive environment.
Journalists’ Union can play a crucial role in the processes and challenges of journalism. As in all areas, there are dozens of problems in the field of mass media as well: freedom of speech, improvement of the legislative field, IT revolution effect, problems with the ethics of journalism, challenges to print and electronic media, pressure on journalists, etc.
The Journalists’ Union along with other journalistic organizations should be a platform where problems should be solved, and first of all, journalists’ rights and interests should be protected.
We devoted all our conscious lives to journalism, but we are not members of the Journalists’ Union of Armenia.
Editor-in-chief of our partner “168 Hours” newspaper, author and conductor of “R-Evolution” TV program Satik Seyranyan, as already known, will be nominated as presidential candidate of the Union of Journalists of Armenia. As in all areas, there is a need for change of generations also in journalism.
We, the undersigned, support professional journalist Satik Seyranyan’s candidacy, being convinced that under her leadership, the Union may have its own serious participation in addressing and solving the problems of the sector.
