Laziness syndrome is most dangerous

January 09,2018 12:34

Fortunately, the “Memorial Day” this year was on Sunday, and it did not give an opportunity to extend the vacation for another day. I still insist that announcing Mondays following any holiday, such as Christmas, as days-off is more harmful, than useful. Visiting deceased is certainly a good tradition, but if we compare this nice tradition to the habit of laziness or idleness, then the harms of the second exceed the benefits of the first. The state, the active stratum of the society should propagate work and study, not the idleness of holidays and memorial days.

Now, in lifeless information days, the main topics of press clubs are: 1. inflation, 2. food-poisonings and heart problems during the holidays, 3. post-vacation syndrome. The second and third topics are closely related to each other as you can see: excessive doses of alcohol and calorie intake, which in our social consciousness are associated with holidays and vacations, logically leads to a hangover and stress. Psychologists and sociologists invited to the press clubs will, of course, find more in-depth explanations and give advice on slow, gradual return to work. From a professional point of view, this may be true, in practice, however, I believe that it is more expedient to totally “disengage” from work during the holidays and fully “engage in” after returning to work. Our government made a right decision, defining working days from January 3 next year. Paralyzing life for two weeks is just useless.

The same psychologists will of course state that the post-vacation syndrome is a scientifically proven fact. I will not argue. But I know a lot more dangerous and influential syndrome: the syndrome of laziness and justification of this laziness by various “objective” circumstances.

Lying on a sofa, philosophizing, and complaining about life is a habit that needs to be overcome. Waking up in the morning and vigorously engaging in work is also a habit that everybody needs to bring up in themselves. I think all the experts studying the “mystery” of the human being will agree with it.
