My Nobel Prize is my wife: Charles Aznavour

January 15,2018 15:35

In an interview with Le Télégramme famous French singer Charles Aznavour said that he does not need a Nobel Prize because his Nobel Prize is his wife.

“I do not need it. I have a Nobel Prize at home-my wife. She is Swedish”, Aznavour has noted.

In response to a reporter’s question whether what he would like to be engaged in besides singing, Aznavour said he did not even want to hear about anything else. “It is my oxygen, as my wife says, my lover”, he has told.

Aznavour said he did not expect achieving such a glory while he was young. “I wanted to do something that would live long. And it is the job of a comedian that can be lifelong. You can start as a kid and end as a pious father. True, we can move from one phase to another. The idea of glory came later, but it was not a solution, but culmination”, Aznavour has told.

Aznavour said he did not agree with the idea that singing is a secondary art. “Singing is a universal art. We can be born with singing and die with singing or a funeral. Songs accompany us throughout our lives: lullaby, children’s song, march, wedding, perhaps, divorce, and finally Te Deum…”.

In response to the remark that Aznavour is the only giant of the French singing art, the chansonnier replied that he is not the last.

“Well, I am the first classical French singer. I think I have become classical also by writing. I have read many classical writers, from La Fontaine to Victor Hugo, from Molière to Sacha Guitry. And, of course, Russian writers, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky. They have enriched me”, Aznavour has told.

He also has said he would like to be a writer, however, writing a book is a tough and isolated process where “imagination turns into the creation of history and a character”.

“Daily life inspires me for songs, and I work on only on one character-mine. I realized this while writing a scenario when it was necessary to ensure the continuity of the plot. When Gilbert Bacon asked me to write an opera, I told him that I did not consider myself capable of writing an opera. Today I would be able to write”.

In the end, Charles Aznavour noted that there will be a song in his next album where he expresses his dissatisfaction: violence, loss of human values, cowardice, cowardice hidden in social networks, etc.

    Yesterday—Today—Tomorrow:

Armenian unlamentable pains are partly relieved by
Gomidasian Sharagans, yev Aznavourian chantable lyrics,
Volcanoed from his honest, murmuring heart valves,
Sung of the depth of vibrating vocal cords,
Carved with beautiful French amorous langue,
    Seeded in righteous, viable ground.
