On 23 January, the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum (EaP CSF) will present in Brussels the “Eastern Partnership Index 2015-2016”, a publication revealing data and comparative analysis of progress made by the six Eastern Partner (EaP) countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine) is several areas.
The results, combining a fully up-to-date narrative with data and scores that provide a snapshot for the period from March 2015 to December 2016, contribute to key debates in the EU and the EaP countries around the themes widely discussed in the region: is there now a two-speed Eastern Partnership with the Association Agreement countries on track for closer and deeper European integration? Which countries are improving, and which are backtracking on media freedom, free and fair elections, the fight against corruption, and human rights? Can the EU be a player in resolving ongoing conflicts in the region?
The Index presentation will take place at the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU. It will be divided into two panel discussions: the first one on the European integration, trade and sustainable development, and the second one on democracy, human rights and international security. More information about the event can be found on the EaP CSF website.
The Eastern Partnership Index 2015-2016 is a continuation of the European Integration Index for Eastern Partner countries, building on the strong focus on the European integration process, and updating the index to reflect the challenges of sustainable development, human rights and democracy, security and international cooperation in a tense political region. The project is led by the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum with funding from several donors.
