January 25,2018 15:40

German Delegate Doris Barnett during the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) winter session asked Serzh Sargsyan, President of Armenia, how they could be useful for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. Serzh Sargsyan answered: “Azerbaijan’s maximalism and unrealistic expectations of the negotiations outcome are an obstacle to negotiations. If the international community can help Azerbaijan to get rid of illusions and come back to the Earth, I think we can achieve great success in a short time. Unfortunately, the agreements reached are not being fulfilled”.

Serzh Sargsyan reminded that after the agreements reached in Vienna and Saint Petersburg, the highest officials of Azerbaijan made a statement, that it is not their statement, but the co-chairs’, and that the NKR issue is the internal issue of Azerbaijan. Then the President of the Republic of Armenia emphasized: “It is not realistic to expect a quick solution in such circumstances”.
