Encouraging the movement of international students across Europe

January 25,2018 15:04

Noting that student mobility assists member States’ education systems and economies, for the inclusion of international students provides greater diversity and a broader range of skills, PACE Committee on migration urged member States to adopt measures to this end. These would address tuition fees, accreditation and the need for compatibility between education systems.

Adopting a draft resolution based on the report prepared by Alexander [the Earl of] Dundee, the committee underlined that such measures “would also help international students find jobs in the countries where they have studied”. Such measures would reflect an attitude of positive welcome to international students on the part of host countries and their political leaderships.

Among the measures mentioned, the committee cited providing a welcoming environment to international students and the encouragement of employment prospects, introducing policies that facilitate their admission and implementing fully the Bologna Process for the recognition of higher education qualifications.
