At a press conference, Zaruhi Postanjyan, leader of the “Yerkir Tsirani” party, spoke about banning her entry to Georgia.
She sent appeals to the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Vice President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini, Armenia’s Ambassador to Georgia Ruben Sadoyan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and other officials, demanding explanations.
She said they were going to show “the music of hell” poster, to give out symbolic lights received as a gift from the United States, to distribute leaflets, but at the Georgian checkpoint they allowed everyone from their 15-member group to pass, except her. “These items have not even been checked, those were in the bus. They forbid me, told me to stay away, gave me a note which did not contain any notice in Armenian, only in English and Georgian. I told them to give me a note in my native language, they said they had no right and could not. I told them I would videotape, they said I should not worry about that as everything was being videotaped and recorded there”.
Postanjyan said that she had suffered losses because of the entry ban: “We suffered both moral and physical damage, got sick because of that cold, we must demand compensation for our damages. We need to know why we were banned to enter Georgia. Armenians in Georgia are an important nation for the Georgian statehood. They should provide explanations and also apologize to me, compensating for the damages I have suffered”.
