‘Russian arms sales to Azerbaijan has become uncontrolled process’: Vladimir Yevseyev: ‘168 hours’

January 31,2018 14:38

“Russian arms sales to Azerbaijan has become an uncontrolled process”, said Russian military expert Vladimir Yevseyev, referring to the concerns about the new batch of Russian military weaponry that Azerbaijan recently received.

Let us remind that on January 19, according to earlier signed Russian-Azerbaijani agreements, the next batch of Russian weaponry reached Azerbaijan. According to Azerbaijani and Russian sources, the supply of weaponry is carried out according to the previously worked out plan. Moreover, according to Azerbaijani official reports, after the systemic registration of the whole weaponry, Azerbaijan will send all of it to the contact line. Similar weaponry, according to the same reports, Azerbaijan successfully applied during the April war. By saying modern military equipment, the Azerbaijani side refers to BTR-82A armored personnel carriers.

First, referring to the armored vehicles, Vladimir Yevseyev said that we should not be particularly concerned about this weaponry as those do not affect the military balance between the conflicting sides. According to him, those are cannons and vehicles, which are not exclusive for Armenia, since especially after the April war necessary weaponry was supplied to Armenia. “This latest supply is of no great importance. Azerbaijan is doing that as part of the information war, trying to put pressure on the Armenian side. These are ordinary armored vehicles. Usually, such supplies and purchases are not put into circulation, this is secret information, and if it is not secret then it pursues another purpose. In this case, the aim is to make the Armenian side feel anxious”, said Yevseyev.
