Term ‘offshore’ removed from new Tax Code of Armenia

February 01,2018 16:32

While naming the countries of “offshore zone”, the term “offshore” will not be used in official documents hereinafter: it will be replaced by the following expression: “countries having special liberal systems of taxation”.

The Finance Minister, Vardan Aramyan, has presented a draft constituting the aforementioned change. The Minister of Finance conditions the mentioned initiative by the overall change of the Tax Code. He states that Eastern American Somoza, Tunisia, South Korea, Mongolia, Namibia and Trinidad and Tobago have started to be considered as countries having “not reasonable” tax rates or liberal systems by the European Union, and subsequently a necessity emerges to view those countries as countries having “not reasonable” tax rates or liberal systems in comparison with the tax system of the Republic of Armenia.
