As stated by the President of Yerevan Media Club, Boris Navasardyan, the draft bill “On the Structure and Functioning of the Government”, which entails that the Government will hold closed sessions, is intended for limiting the criticisms around the abuses and shortcomings existing in the activities of the Government. “The mistakes and defections of the Government’s functioning are evident, anyway, the media companies will write about that for sure”, he explains.
According to Mr. Navasardyan, the coverage of the Government’s work with the mentioned restriction will be less efficient from the perspective of awareness: “I think it is intended for putting pressure on the media groups.”
Boris Navasardyan mentioned that the closed sessions will make Government-media and Government-public communication more difficult: “The quality of the coverage of the Government’s functioning will decrease.”
