‘We have been bearing that stench for six years, let them smell it for a second too’: Nubarashen resident

February 15,2018 15:50

When the “Yerkir Tsirani” City Council members raised the issue of damaged sewerage at Nubarashen penitentiary on February 13 during the Council session, a brawl broke out, which once again gave residents of Nubarashen highway an opportunity to voice out about the stench. “Taking the sewage water to the City Hall was a good step, but the brawl was not appropriate. One should not pull women out… We have been bearing that stench for six years. Let them smell it for a second too”, said Knar Gasparyan, a resident of Nubarashen, during the interview with Aravot.am.

“Children cannot play in the yard, they can not open the windows”, she complained.

Knar Gasparyan noted that because of the stench of damaged sewerage at the penitentiary, people even refuse to rent or buy apartments in five buildings adjacent to it. “I want to sell my apartment, but there is no one to buy. It is even written on the Internet that the cheapest apartments in the city are in Nubarashen. Everyone leaves this district”.

According to our interlocutor, the relevant bodies observe the area twice a year, promising that the sewerage will be repaired, but they do nothing.
