The former vice-president of the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia, Karapet Rubinyan is inclined towards the opinion that Azeri President Ilham Aliyev’s announcement on “taking Yerevan and Zangezur back” made in pre-election campaign perhaps implies possible military operations. “There are rather serious substantiations,” he tells in the interview with Aravot.am.
On why Aliyev has replaced the presidential elections from October to April, Karapet Rubinyan reflects: “Taking into consideration that changes are expected in Armenia in April as well, he tries to solve his issue fast.”
According to Mr. Rubinyan, economic problems are possible in Azerbaijan by Aliyev’s re-election, but it seems the clans in power in that country are strong: “There are no expectations of unexpected evolvements. In case of other countries, it is a fact how the large clans have been destroyed, but in Azerbaijan’s case I do not see signs.”
Karapet Rubinyan highlights, Aliyev has abolished the opposition in Azerbaijan, thus he will not have any problem relative to his re-election.
