During the discussion on the “Further steps and actions to fight against Serzh Sargsyan’s reproduction” at Liberty Square, one of the participants of the meeting asked National Assembly deputy, leader of the oppositional “Yelq” faction Nikol Pashinyan whether it would not be better to fight against the system, otherwise if this system remains, they will assign different individuals and our lives will not be enough to fight against those individuals.
“You raise a very important question, I think, a new system is being formed in this process, I consider this system a process of Azerbaijaniization of Armenia, and the system that still exists today, we all have problem with it in different aspects.
I have no intention of fighting against anyone in Armenia, the problem is that individuals embody certain systems, now it is very important not to let Serzh Sargsyan’s third term take place… there is a political conflict here that is just entering into force, and it is connected with Serzh Sargsyan’s statement of 2014. Until now, the condition was that Serzh Sargsyan would not be nominated”, Nikol Pashinyan responded.
According to him, if a decision is made to come to Liberty Square, they can make two proposals: prevention of Serzh Sargsyan’s third term, and the demand for special parliamentary elections:
“We should record two rules of the game: after all, the final solution to these questions depends on how the citizen of Armenia responds to these questions, if we decide that we should come to Liberty Square, then what presence of citizens we are able to provide in the square, if we are able to provide a wide range of citizens, what concrete actions will we take to solve the problem? I think this political process should exclude any violence, it should not be a static political process, all forms of nonviolent civil disobedience may be applied and be considered means of civilized fighting”.
In response to one of the citizens’ remark that the authorities apply violence, Nikol Pashinyan said that no violence should be responded through violence by them.
