Armenian civil society organisations (CSOs) are to receive support from the EU to better monitor, record and report on human rights violations. This support is through the “EU4HumanRights: Pursuing Positive Change through Empowering Civil Society” project, which is co-funded by the EU and was launched in the country at the end of February.
The project will work with new and recently established CSOs. The EU has contributed €400,000 of the total budget of €460,035.
At the project’s launch event, EU Ambassador to Armenia Piotr Świtalski wished the project’s partners success during its implementation.
“This year we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The EU is taking concrete action and showing that this declaration is a living document and important point of reference for us in our activities across the globe,” he said.
