‘Cleansing’ days

March 27,2018 12:46

The rare Sundays that I can spend far away from the Internet (two Sundays per month) are a real great occasion for me. I compose my thoughts, as the Prime Minister likes to say, through paper and pen, with the prospect of transferring them to the computer later. I read purely traditional, paper-based books.

The remaining 28 days of the month I have to be on the Internet in order to follow daily information. It is my job, which I love. But in spite of the principles written in the journalism textbooks, and by the way, quite right principles, it is not possible to differentiate information from opinions, views, and comments on the Internet and, first of all, on social networks. The latter are usually full of malice, hatred, insults towards others, ridiculing and the desire to become satisfied through all that.

The target of malice are, as a rule, the authorities, the rich. But not only. Often also colleagues. Sometimes just successful people. Although success is known to be an extremely relative category. I am sure that the more discreet and modest a person is in his demands, the more likely he is looking for his success in other areas away from massive standards.

Tell me please, what is the pleasure of a person, what complexes described by Freud does he overcome, who writes “anasun” (animal) as a comment under some information? Unlike those who write three letter words on public toilet walls, this person perhaps believes that it is a manifestation of civil courage, that he is a public or national figure, a fighter, etc. “Anasun”, of course, is an extreme example, there happen to be also longer comments, but the principle is the same: the exclamation of something and bringing out some hidden dark instincts.

I think the solution is to have as many “cleansing” days as possible, to stay away from the Internet for as long as possible. Otherwise, whether you wish or not, you will find yourself in a “fight” vortex, where you want to respond, conditionally said, to every “anasun” in their style and level. Even though you do not do that, for a slight moment such temptation arises.
