“Paruyr Hayrikyan has a great role in the independence establishment process, but I think that the “Heritage” has been at the core of the national struggle. We welcome Pashinyan’s “My Step” initiative”, Raffi Hovannisian, the founder of the “Heritage” party, told journalists after the inauguration ceremony of the newly-elected President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sargsyan, commenting on the fact that Paruyr Hayrikyan has joined Nikol Pashinyan’s “My Step” march against Serzh Sargsyan.
According to Raffi Hovannisian, regardless of whether “Heritage” party members walk with Pashinyan or not, they will always support the people: “There is no question of joining… Walking from town to town and village to village is something that the “Heritage” has done, thus Nikol’s step is not unprecedented. Yes, it is creative, and I appreciate it, but this has already been done by others. They do a good and the right job”.
Hovannisian noted that “Heritage” will take part in both Pashinyan’s, Zaruhi Postanjyan’s and “For the sake of the Armenian state” front’s possible rallies. “The mistake is that we did not found the resolution to bring various oppositionists and intellectuals together”, Raffi Hovannisian expressed regret.
He also said that “Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanyan” was an electoral alliance and there is no communication between the former alliance parties anymore.
