The police detained David Petrosyan, a member of the “For Science Development” group, who was trying to block the street with other students. At the moment, there are no blocked streets, police have set strict control over the streets.
Let us remind that the Police has issued a statement: “Based on Article 33 of the Republic of Armenia Law on “Freedom of Assembly”, the Police decided to terminate the assembly on 16.04.2018, and requested the assembly leader to do so, immediately informing the participants of the rally. We clarify that in accordance with the mentioned article of the law, in the absence of the head of the assembly or the failure of the leader to meet the request, the police have the authority to disperse the assembly, including the use of special measures provided by the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Police”.
Today, Deputy Chief of Police Valery Osipyan tried to hand this statements to the organizer of the rally Nikol Pashinyan, but the latter tore it.
