Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan on Monday visited deputies of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan, Sasun Mikayelyan, as well as Davit Sanasaryan, Armen Grigoryan and a number of other detained people who are held at Yerevan Police detention facility, the Ombudsman’s Office said in a statement.
Mr. Tatoyan had private talks with them, having their keeping conditions and the respective documents checked. No complaints have been voiced in relation to the keeping conditions and treatment by the authorities of the detention facility. The opposition MPs raised a question about having access to radio-receiver in order to be aware of the news, which was provided. Two detained individuals raised a question concerning the right to make a call, which was secured.
Discussion proceedings have been initiated at the Human Rights Defender’s Office aiming to take measures to the fullest of the mandate prescribed by law.
Statements related to all the questions raised during the conversations, including questions related to the grounds of apprehensions, will be addressed to the criminal prosecution agencies.
