Armenia’s Acting Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan believes that participating in “negotiations” with opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan that are not likely to seek solutions has no prospects, Karapetyan’s Spokesman Aram Araratyan said in a released statement.
“Nikol Pashinyan’s regular invitation [for talks] is practically no different from the previous one, except for this time it does not dictate who can attend the negotiations.
Karen Karapetyan’s reply is the same as previously: negotiations where one of the sides is dictating an agenda, while the other side cannot voice one are not negotiations,” reads the statement.
The spokesman noted that in addition, Mr Karapetyan sticks to his opinion that holding talks in presence of media already entails that they are not meant to achieve any results.
“Thus, the acting Prime Minister finds it unpromising to take part in “negotiations” that are not likely to find solutions.
Karen Karapetyan believes that Mr Pashinyan should accept the proposal of the Armenian President addressed to all the parliamentary and extra-parliamentary forces on jointly discuss the current situation in the country and the ways to deal with it,” the statement concludes.
