Republican MP Hayk Babukhanyan asked Pashinyan, whether being liberal, he is going to fight against the totalitarian sects, against granting privileges to minorities. He also said that Pashinyan is supported by such pro-western figures as Saakashvili, Navalny, and there are many pro-Western figures in his circle, “in addition to this, anti-Russian sentiments during the pre-election campaign. Why should we believe when positions have changed for 180 degrees?”.
Pashinyan said he does not consider himself a liberal: “In the modern world, -izms have lost their significance. Such delimitation is fading. Communism and private property have been considered as incompatible phenomena, but today China has combined those, and this means that there are no isms anymore”.
As for the EAEU, he said that it is not a secret that they voted against the membership, but being in power you have the opportunity to discuss those issues with your partners and come to a common conclusion. Pashinyan said that he considers it a nonsense to call any political figure in Armenia pro-Western, pro-Russian, pro-Iranian: only pro-Armenian politicians should engage in political activity in Armenia.
