“All of us are interested in the constitutional and lawful solution of the current political situation. I am glad that perception should acquire a certain expression,” said “Yelq” bloc leader Nikol Pashinyan, replying to the question on the change of position of the Republican Party of Armenia.
Let us remind you that the Republican Party of Armenia decided to support the candidate nominated by the 1/3rd of the Parliament during the elections on May 8.
A big rally is planned on May 8.
Asked if it is possible for him to meet with the First President of the Republic of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrossian, Nikol Pashinyan replied that they are open for meetings and discussions: “We will decide based on the necessity.” Nikol Pashinyan had read yesterday’s announcement by Levon Ter-Petrossian and accepted it.
Asked if there are actions for which Serzh Sargsyan and Robert Kocharyan are going to be punished, Nikol Pashinyan responded: “I have said formerly that the main principle is the lawfulness and public solidarity. I am a PM’s candidate now and not a judge’s. I think the practice that a single person takes the role of both the president and the PM, both the investigator and the judge is not correct. The citizens of the Republic of Armenia should see that they live in a country where the rule of law exists, where everyone is equal before the law.”
To the next question, implying if the Republican oligarchs are going to vote “for” him will not be as a constraint for implementing his thesis of demolishing monopolies, later on, Nikol Pashinyan answered that he is going to be chosen as the PM without preconditions. And for achieving their goal – the peaceful environment, they will take steps as the situation dictates. He also told that after his detention from Erebuni-Artsakh crossroad on April 22, he has not met with Serzh Sargsyan.
