Dear Compatriots,
I cordially congratulate you on the occasion of Victory and Peace Day.
Our ancestors’ victory in the Great Patriotic War was truly historic. The victory brought peace to our country. It opened up new doors and horizons for our people’s creative work, prosperity and development.
All layers of the Armenian people gave the victory what they could and glorified their name on the fronts of the World War II, on the home front, in guerrilla battles and resistance movements.
Today, we express gratitude to our veterans with a feeling of deep respect. We are marking a double holiday today. We are celebrating the anniversary of Shushi liberation. That glorious victory was not merely a military success. Thereby, the Armenians of Artsakh survived the threat of annihilation and gained the right to peaceful life.
We bow our heads to the memory of all our martyrs and assure that no violation of human rights and people’s freedoms will be tolerated any longer, since our compatriots have humanistic ideals, a freedom-loving spirit, and a common will to protect these ideals.
The nationwide velvet revolution in Armenia is an undeniable proof that we have a clear idea of what freedom, democracy and peace is. Today, all Armenians in Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora are confident in their power; the fighting spirit that liberated Shushi is wide-awake in our hearts and eyes.
Dear people of Armenia, proud citizens of the Republic of Armenia,
I have no doubt that our people’s victorious spirit, which has been strengthened by the latest developments, will lead to ever new achievements in Armenia and Artsakh. The Armenian people are walking with confidence along the path of their cherished dreams.
Reiterating my congratulations on this glorious holiday, I wish all of us peace of mind, fair and productive work for the glory of our country and the wellbeing of our people.
