Answering the question implying that in the days of protests the Ministry of Defence made an announcement on the intense situation on the frontline and accumulations on the borders, the acting Minister of Defense, Vigen Sargsyan noticed: “To suppose that the Armed Forces can make an announcement in favor of the inner-political developments is a complete disrespect towards not only the Minister of Defence, but the soldier standing on the frontline.”
Addressing “Yelq” bloc MP Sasun Mikayelyan’s announcements made from the tribune of the Parliament and at the Republic Square during the days of mass protests, implying that he had an information that the announcements about the accumulations on the frontline were fake news and the Ministry of Defence made those with political motivations, Vigen Sargsyan said: “What does it mean? That I can make an announcement, which my soldier sees with his own eyes is a lie? Do you imagine? How should I look in the eyes of my soldier, my commander, if they know I lie, I make fake announcements?”
As stated by Vigen Sargsyan, to deny such announcement “is very irresponsible action, inasmuch as it can evoke an overall mistrust towards the announcements of the army around the public.”
Vigen Sargsyan said that he had not received any call neither from Sasun Mikayelyan, nor Nikol Pashinyan or any other person asking of the grounds of the announcement: “I believe it is normal, but I consider the announcement from the Republic Square erroneous. The announcements of the army cannot be conditioned by inner developments. The situation on the frontline was as it was described in our announcements, Armed Forces continue completely controlling the situation and are ready for counter attacks. Nothing has changed today, those accumulations continue remaining the same,” stated Vigen Sargsyan.
