After being elected by the RA National Assembly special session and appointed Prime Minister by the decree of RA President, Nikol Pashinyan keeps receiving congratulations from heads of foreign States, Armenian public sector and civil society representatives, individuals.
RF President Vladimir Putin sent a message to Nikol Pashinyan congratulating him on taking office as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. The message reads in part:
“I expect that your work as the head of government will contribute to further strengthening the friendly, allied relations between our countries, our partnership as part of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Eurasian Economic Union and the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”
President of Kazakhstan Norsultan Nazarbayev offered his congratulations to Nikol Pashinyan on being elected Prime Minister of Armenia. The Kazakh leader expressed firm belief that Armenia will pursue the path of sustainable development under Nikol Pashinyan’s premiership, promoting social well-being. The message reads in part:
“I am certain that friendship and mutual understanding established between the two states will further be the hope and basis to expand the cooperation between Kazakhstan and Armenia in the spirit of traditional partnership and for the benefit of our nations.”
A congratulatory message has been received from Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland. The message reads in part:
“Today’s decision by the Armenian Parliament shows that the constitutional reform, which is being carried out with the help of our organization, has started to be implemented. This process should continue, in line with the wishes of the Armenian people.
The Council of Europe is ready to provide any further assistance to the Armenian authorities in this very important process based on human rights, democracy and the rule of law.”
On behalf of the Government of Lithuania, Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis sent congratulations to Nikol Pashinyan on his appointment as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.
“I sincerely wish you every success in responding to the challenges of heading the newly-appointed Government of the Republic of Armenia. We are interested in the further active development of the bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Armenia while pursuing economic prosperity of our countries and increase of reciprocal trade.
We strongly support the dialogue between Armenia and the European Union aimed at strengthening democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights in your country. We welcome implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement signed in November 2017, which gives the new strong impetus for seeking all the aforementioned objectives,” the message reads.
NATO’s Special Representative to the Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai congratulated Nikol Pashinyan.
“On behalf of the NATO Secretary General, I would like to warmly congratulate you on your election by the Armenian National Assembly to become Armenia’s new Prime Minister.
NATO and Armenia first established relations a little over 25 years ago, and our partnership has grown steadily in significance during that time. We highly appreciate Armenia’s contribution to NATO’s operations in Kosovo and Afghanistan, and we seek to maintain a close political dialogue and substantial degree of practical cooperation through the NATO-Armenian Individual Partnership Action Plan.
As NATO’s Special Representative to the Caucasus, I look forward to working with you and your government and to meeting you during a future visit to Yerevan or in Brussels.”
CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov sent a congratulatory message to Nikol Pashinyan.
“Dear Nikol Vovayevich, please accept my sincere congratulations on your election as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. I am convinced that your political experience and nation-wide support will allow your government to implement the proposed reforms within a short period of time, the result of which will be a powerful leap forward in terms of Armenia’s comprehensive development, further consolidation of its position on the international arena. The guarantee of success of such creative activity is the unity and solidarity of the Armenian people, its willingness to be actively involved in the modernization of our country.
As one of the most active members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Republic of Armenia has always paid special attention to the need to improve its activities by promoting important initiatives aimed at ensuring security, including collective security in the Caucasus.
