Judge Arshak Vardanyan published the decision on changing the arrest warrant of Aram Manukyan, Hovhannes Harutyunyan, Tatul Tamrazyan, Aram Hakobyan, Tigran Manukyan, Arayik Hakobyan, Vardan Geravetyan, Martiros Hakobyan, Sergey Kyureghyan, Gevorg Iritsyan and Toros Torosyan, members of the “Sasna Tsrer” group, that is releasing them on bail. It was rejected by the court’s decision, which means that the defendants will continue to be kept in custody during the trials.
There was a tense situation in the court, the citizens were shouting “shame”. The defenders left the session hall as a sign of protest.
Let us remind that the pleading for the detainees’ release was presented by the defenders of “Sasna Tsrer” today, and the discussion lasted several hours.
Members of the “Sasna Tsrer” group, who seized the Police regiment of the Republic of Armenia in 2016, are charged with a series of serious crimes, including murders, hostage-taking, and building-seizure. Some of the defendants are accused of supporting the “Tsrer”.
Let us note that recently the arrest warrant of opposition politician, Andrias Ghukasyan, who had been accused of attempting to join the “Sasna Tsrer” group, was changed. He was released and will no longer be present at the hearings as a detainee.
