May 12,2018 14:59

After the government session, newly appointed Chief of Police Valeri Osipyan answered a number of questions in an interview.

In response to the question of Aravot.am, whether why Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan appointed him as Chief of Police, whether they had become friends while training in the same gym and it played a role, Osipyan said: “It would be correct if Mr. Prime Minister answers that question. But I think there was the idea of standing in the opposite sides of the barbed wire and since there are no barbed wires anymore, we will show the whole world that the police stand by the people, and the process, which took place in the Republic of Armenia, should be an example for the whole world”.

Osipyan assured that corruption in the system will be eliminated.

In response to the question whether he has ever done an order that he did not want to do, Osipyan said: “There was no unacceptable order that I would not do because of my sense of conscience. I have done everything within the frames of law. I have even applied physical force against our fellow citizens within the law. If there are citizens the force against who has been disproportionate or who has suffered, I apologize”.
