The authorities have changed. As the former Prosecutor General, are you ready to bear a punishment for not personally taking a step towards the disclosure of March 1 case? To the mentioned question the the Republican MP Gevorg Kostanyan responded: “When you give that question, you witness that I have not done anything. You not only do not have sufficient ground to give that question, you do not have grounds at all. What orders I have given, what actions were carried out based on the orders. You were following the hearings invited by Nikol Pashinyan. You saw what steps were undertaken in the course of my office.”
Asked if any disclosures are in place, because we know nothing more about March 1 besides what we always used to know, he answered: “Being disclosed and not undertaking steps towards disclosing are diametrically different things. If something is not still disclosed, it does not mean insufficient means were taken towards disclosure.”
Kostanyan announced: “During the course of my office I have not seen and have not read the appeal or any record of any witness that anyone has seen how this or that person died. I have not seen such thing. Although it is evident that those cases have taken place in the presence of thousands of people, no one has said what he has seen, where and in what conditions yet.”
As regards a punishment on putting insufficient efforts during his office as the Prosecutor General, not including witnesses, new people in the case, Kostanyan said, that whatever position he has assumed, he has bore the responsibility for each step he has taken, he takes and will take, regardless of the situation.
Let us remind you that series of protests were held in Yerevan. There were organized by the supporters of presidential candidate and the First President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosian. On March 1st police tried to disperse the protesters. As a result 10 people were killed.
