May 17,2018 15:49

“Reject Taron” protest goes on in Yerevan, today. Let us remind you that protests against and in support of Yerevan City Mayor take place since yesterday. The protesters demand the resignation of Mayor Taron Margaryan. Another part insists – their Mayor is Taron Margaryan: “Be courageous!”

The exclamations “Taron, leave!” and “Taron, the Mayor!” have blended. The participants of the protest march through the streets nearby the Municipality, urging Yerevan residents to join them by exclaiming – “reject Taron!”, “Taron, leave!”, “Are you against Taron? Then beep!”

The protest is not crowded. At the entrance of the Prosecutor’s Office, the protesters met the newly appointed Minister of Education and Science, Arayik Harutyunyan. The latter was going from the Government session to the Ministry. He officially responded to the protesters’ greetings and continued heading to the Ministry.

At the building of the Prosecutor’s Office, a part of the protesters shout out “Prosecutor, leave!”, and a part came yesterday, against the staff of the Municipality and following the traces of the appeal lodged by the Mayor.

The participants of the protest informed that today “Yerkir Tsirani” party leader Zaruhi Postanjyan has submitted a report to the Prosecutor’s Office on the illegal cutting of trees and construction work at Hrazdan gorge.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called the protesters to stop their actions. Protesters followed the call and stopped the protests.
