In an interview at the National Assembly Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan said that Azerbaijan, despite the elections, has obligations, moreover, these are not just the agreements that have been achieved in Vienna and St. Petersburg, but also the international obligations: “1995 trilateral agreement includes a provision for the creation of an investigation mechanism. This agreement has no time limits and is the international obligation of Azerbaijan. This is why negotiations always fail”.
In response to the question whether why Azerbaijan brings the issue of intensification forward now, Shavarsh Kocharyan said: “My assessment is that it wants to divert the focus from the trust-building measures”. He said that there is need for trust in the negotiations: no trust, no negotiations.
Shavarsh Kocharyan said that the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group will visit soon: “The government has changed, the Foreign Minister has changed, they visit to at least get acquainted”.
