Nikol Pashinyan tasks SRC not to hamper business activities and continue curbing the shadow economy

May 19,2018 13:02

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called at the State Revenue Committee (SRC) headquarters to introduce newly appointed SRC Chairman David Ananyan.

The Premier thanked Vardan Harutyunyan for his efforts and wished David Ananyan every success in his new position.

“The State Revenue Committee, the tax and customs systems have always been in the spotlight of the public, the media and the government. We are constantly talking about the reform of these systems, and note at the same time that they are still incomplete and should be continued with new impetus,” the Prime Minister pointed out. The Head of Government pointed to two main problems faced in this sphere, which should be tackled as shortly as possible.

“First of all, you should not hamper business activities and, secondly, you must continue curbing the shadow economy and ensure consistent budget revenue growth, increase the level of budget receipts. Mr. Ananyan, it is just in the area between the above two factors that I look forward to your effective contribution. I think that it depends heavily on the activities of the State Revenue Committee, the customs and tax authorities, whether the positive energy accumulated during the recent political developments will be transformed into specific economic outcomes,” Nikol Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister noted that we have long missed what we have today. “I mean optimism, confidence in the future, our confidence in that we will boast most serious economic achievements and will bring our country and the State to a qualitatively new level,” the Head of Government underscored, adding that the implementation of these tasks largely depends on the activities of tax and customs authorities. The Prime Minister said he expected the newly appointed SRC Chairman rapid and serious results, which will be visible and tangible for citizens.

Nikol Pashinyan once again highlighted the fight against corruption and noted that corruption should be eradicated. “We have reached the point when the impossible may become reality, therefore, we must do it in all areas, including the fight against corruption, and there should be no doubt of it. New times should set new rules, and I hope that we have the necessary political will, consistency and skill to respond to these challenges,” the Prime Minister said.

Former SRC Chairman Vardan Harutyunyan congratulated the newly appointed Chairman of the Committee and expressed conviction that under his leadership the problems will be solved to bring about progress and prosperity in our country. Thankful for the Prime Minister’s confidence, newly appointed SRC Chairman David Ananyan assured that he would do his utmost to materialize the progressive ideas introduced in the system.

“In the face of these new realities, I can assure you, Mr. Prime Minister, that we will live up to the task set before us,” the newly appointed SRC Chairman said.
