Aravot.am asked for details from the brother of Zhirayr Sefilian, Toros Sefilian from “Sasna Tsrer”-Nikol Pashinyan meeting.
Let us remind you, Members of the “Sasna Tsrer” group, who seized the Police regiment of the Republic of Armenia in 2016, are charged with a series of serious crimes, including murders, hostage-taking, and building-seizure.
As informed by Toros Sefilian, Nikol Pashinyan has promised to be consistent towards the issue of “Sasna Tsrer”. “We now expect practical steps by the PM’s office. He has said the issue of political prisoners should find a quick solution. And relative to “Sasna Tsrer” he promised to find a solution within the legal framework. Yes, we also say – give a solution within legal frameworks but change the preventative means of “Tsrer”. They should meet the demand and realize that. “Sasna Tsrer” will not run away. What we imply is that they come and participate in the hearings while being free,” told Toros Sefilian.
He also informed that a meeting between “Sasna Tsrer” supporters and newly appointed Minister of Justice, Artak Zeynalyan is planned. “We are in an expectation. The demand is the same – to change the preventative mean of detention of “Sasna Tsrer” and to give the issue a legal solution. We will not take a step back. They should go and participate in the hearings on their case right from their homes.”
Let us add, that regardless of the fact that Nikol Pashinyan called on the citizens to stop the protests, “Sasna Tsrer” supporters continue sit-down strikes by surrounding the entrance of the building of Shengavit district branch of Court of General Jurisdiction of First Instance, because of which the court hearings do not take place.
