30 million EUR in the North of Armenia to Develop Tourism and Business: Piotr Switalski’s Explanation in Amasia

May 22,2018 19:18

The Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Armenia, Piotr Switalski, who was taking part in the opening of “wool production” project implemented via the co-funding of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the EU, said that they seek for good ideas on promoting economic development in Armenia’s faraway areas.

As stated by the Ambassador, the project of the wool production is one of the many projects of the EU. “We try to fill in the gap which has emerged between the capital and the provinces,” said the Ambassador. According to his conviction, for such a production, market will always be found. “Suchlike initiative was undertaken in Syunik province and the product is sold out even in the US. I am convinced that in case of a proper boosting and sufficient advertising, at the same time matching the correct choice of style and shades, a market beyond Armenia can be found. I think Armenia’s relative privilege is that the suggested production is natural. Armenia, from this perspective, has gained a name of a country giving natural products,” continued the Ambassador.

Piotr Switalski also noted that the projects to be implemented by the EU had been discussed still with the former authorities, and upon the annual action plan, 30 million EUR was envisaged to be invested in the development of agriculture, tourism and business in three Northern provinces of Armenia, one of which was Shirak.

The Ambassador stressed that they were ready to discuss the new expectations with the new Government, and the agreements acquired with the former government, particularly to adjust the action plan of 2018 to the expectations of the new Government.
