Alen Simonyan, a member of the “Civil Contract” party, informed on his Facebook page that he appealed to Speaker of the National Assembly Ara Babloyan to suspend his powers as a deputy.
Referring to the likelihood of becoming mayor earlier in an interview with reporters in the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan said: “I cannot say anything about the likelihood. I can say that when “Yelq” participated in the Yerevan City Council elections, I was one of the candidates for mayor. If the party decides to put such a responsibility on me, I might agree. But today I enjoy working in the National Assembly, due to my profession, knowledge, and legislative work is what I have always loved”.
