Yesterday, during the hour of announcements, Member of Parliament from the Republican Party of Armenia, the President of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Ashotyan started his speech with the revolution of love and solidarity, the environment.
Armen Ashotyan said he noticed some issues connected with constitutionality: “It is concerning to me, when the leader of the executive authority announces – whenever he calls on the leaders of the local self-governmental bodies to resign, they should do it. I am concerned, inasmuch as the newly appointed Minister of Education and Science is engaged in political activity and implements it right from his cabinet, calling on the people to leave the party, guiding them, providing political consultations. I think the people who have become RPA members know how to leave our party, if they have such will and know how to join our party alike.”
Ashotyan said he was concerned also with intolerance towards divergent opinions and multiple opinions. “I see an issue of constitutionality, when the new PM calls on the former minister not to express his opinions publicly, for example, on social media.”
Ashotyan mentioned the articles of the Constitution of Armenia which, according to him, were violated by the new authorities: Article 3, Article 8, Article 29, Article 30, Article 46 and Article 42. Armen Ashotyan stated that the new authorities must sacredly keep these rights.
Ashotyan called on the citizens to apply to him as a Member of the Parliament, regardless of their political views, if the latter are subject to political persecutions by Pashinyan’s authority.
