Yesterday, during the hour of announcements of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, newly elected Member of Parliament from “Yelq” bloc, Hayk Konjoryan delivered a speech. First and foremost, he emphasized that the hall of the National Assembly was half-empty, then he thanked the citizen of the Republic of Armenia, who returned Armenia to the Armenian people: “We are a historical generation, we are the first generation of the citizens who live and function in a truly free and independent country,” said Konjoryan.
As stated by him, the new Armenia should become an Armenia built on the rejection of a set of old truths: “They told us, you know, politics is a dirty environment, do not enter it, what do you have to do with it? And a lot of talented people were keeping themselves aside. We say, if the air is heavy in the room, then the window should be opened for clean air to come in. They tell us – you do not have experience, you cannot do this or that. We say – yes, we do not have experience in the art of corruption mechanisms and tricks, and being inexperienced is an advantage of ours. They kept telling us for many years that youth is our future, wait and your turn will come and you will come and do something. We say – youth is not Armenia’s future, it is Armenia’s present. Today, at the moment, the youth should actively take part in Armenia’s development. A lot of generations have dreamt of all of this, which we now have.”
The Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, Eduard Sharmazanov responded to him, after he finished delivering the speech: “Dear, let me inform you, that the citizens of the Republic of Armenia have been living in an independent Armenia for at least 26,5 years and it is a great mistake to assimilate any given inner political fight with Artsakh or Sardarapat fight. An elementary respect should be in place towards both the independence movement and Artsakh War fighters, who have given us an independent Armenia.”
