After the government session, Minister of Education and Science Arayik Harutyunyan answered journalists’ questions noting that there will likely be corruption discoveries in the field of education in the near future: “We are carrying out investigations”.
In response to the question whether there will be punishments, Arayik Harutyunyan said that it is not the Education Ministry to punish, the Ministry addresses the relevant bodies, and the judicial and law enforcement agencies deal with that.
Regarding the issue on the extension of the right to deferment discussed at the session, Mr. Harutyunyan said that the threshold was reduced, as the thresholds of the former regulation were so high that there were specialists in the higher education system and academic circles that could not overcome those thresholds. The Minister said that as a result of discussions with the Ministry of Defense, they came to a certain consensus.
