Police Chief of Armenia Valeri Osipyan does not exclude that one or two of his colleagues will be held accountable for corruption schemes announced by the National Security Service but does not think that the police have been massively involved in corruption. He spoke about this in an interview with journalists in the parliament. “Previously, there were subdivisions that were involved in it, but it would be wrong to say that it was a common phenomenon in the police. Those are mainly subdivisions dealing with citizens. In particular, the Traffic Police”, he said. The Police Chief assures that there are no elements of corruption in the police today.
In response to the question whether when we will witness the disclosure of corruption scandals by police during the former authorities, Valeri Osipyan said: “I cannot tell how it was during the former Police But let us not exclude that there was corruption”.
Journalists asked whether corruption was carried out as individual cases or schemes in the police. “Police are aware of everything, there is no need for us to publicize everything. We have some episodes, everything is still underway”, said the Police Chief.
