Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Bernhard Matthias Kiesler, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Armenia.
The Premier attached importance to the development of the Armenian-German partnership and went on to assure that his government will take steps to reinvigorate political and economic ties between the two countries.
“We welcome the programs implemented by Germany in the field of infrastructure development and other spheres. We stand ready to upgrade the bilateral cooperation to a new qualitative level in a bid to boost our trade and economic relations and attract new investments,” Nikol Pashinyan said, stressing the need for joint efforts aimed at promoting the reform process in our country.
The German Ambassador expressed confidence that the proposed joint efforts will help the two countries engage in multifaceted cooperation. He stressed the need for such initiatives as will catalyze the implementation of investment programs in various sectors of the economy. Bernhard Matthias Kiesler considered prospective cooperation in industry, infrastructure development, power engineering and other spheres.
The parties discussed ways of increasing trade turnover between the two countries, issues related to the geopolitical situation in the region, the holding of parliamentary elections in Armenia, the amendments to the Electoral Code, as well as other issues of mutual interest. The Premier made a point of implementing such amendments to the Electoral Code that will guarantee the conduct of free, fair and democratic elections.
