Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received today UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Shombi Sharp.
The Prime Minister appreciated the fruitful efforts exerted by the UN Office in our country and emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Armenia is keen to develop cooperation with the United Nations. Nikol Pashinyan expressed the belief that the ongoing close cooperation with the UN Office will be continued ahead to result in successful implementation of various programs.
Shombi Sharp stressed that the UN Office in Yerevan is committed to supporting the Government’s efforts to overcome the challenges facing Armenia and implement multifaceted reforms. The UN Resident Coordinator noted that the Meghri customs checkpoint modernization strategy is underway at this point of time.
The interlocutors stressed the importance of having the UN Development Program’s support in Armenia’s electoral processes and, in that context, discussed ways of promoting voting transparency and public confidence in elections. Reference was made to the Government’s reform program and the expectations of international assistance.
