The former head of Capital Construction and Housing Department of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Grigor Barseghyan is accused of abusing official powers, large-scale fraud, particularly receiving large amounts of bribes, falsification of documents grounded the sufficient evidence in the result of the preliminary investigation of the criminal case on the abuses existing in the fields of expenditures and capital construction in the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia from 2014 to 2017 carried out by the Investigation Department of the State Revenue Committee of the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
The head of Capital Construction and Housing Department of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Ashot Grigoryan is accused of the attempt of a large-scale fraud, abuse of official powers and falsification of an official document on the same case, pursuant to the same investigation.
At the same time, by the consent of the Prosecutor, the Investigation Department of State Revenue Committee has decided to temporarily stop the liabilities of the head of Capital Construction and Housing Department of the Ministry of Defence, Ashot Grigoryan.
Searches have been carried out in the offices of high-ranked officials of the Defence Ministry of Armenia in the process of preliminary investigation, a few dozens of persons have been questioned.
Both former and current high-ranked officials of Defence Ministry have been called to interrogation, including the former Minister of Defence, Seyran Ohanyan.

Upon Article 21 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, the suspect of the crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is not proven upon the rules of order by the legal verdict of the court entered into force.
