“I cannot say what Peskov meant,” said the Vice President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Eduard Sharmazanov, referring to the announcement made by Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, implying that no meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev would take place in Moscow, inasmuch as the President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sargsyan had not arrived in Moscow.
Mr. Sharmazanov said he could not say why the spokesman to the President of Russia had made such announcement: “In any case, the interest of the state is the highest priority to the Republican Party of Armenia as a parliamentary power. Both formerly and currently we will use all possible tools at all parliamentary platforms to further the state interest.”
According to him, “It is clear that the negotiations of Karabakh issue should be led by the Prime Minister, inasmuch as upon the Constitution, the head of the Republic of Armenia is him.”
