two Iranian-Armenian physicians arrived to Artsakh for a two-day visit, during which they will provide free medical examinations in several communities. The visit was financed by the Tufenkian Foundation and is a part of our efforts to improve healthcare in Artsakh.
The two physicians — pediatric cardiologist Armen Kocharian and surgeon Alfred Avakian — spent their first day in Stepanakert, where they conducted several types of examinations and provided consultations.

Over 20 children of different ages were examined at the “Arevik” Children’s Medical Unit on the first day.
Pregnant women — patients of the “Center of Mother and Child Health Protection” — also underwent examinations and received free consultations from the two physicians.
Today, the physicians are in Martakert, where they are working with regional medical units to conduct examinations that are not normally available in remote communities.
We will organize another similar visit in the Fall, this time to the liberated borderlands of Artsakh, where medical care is scare and free services are much needed.
