The officers of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia have carried out searches in Ejmiatsin city on 2 criminal cases simultaneously, within the framework of the realization of their functions aimed at the fight against the criminality on June 16, 2018, in the result of which large numbers of arms and weapons were disclosed which were being kept illegally.
The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, has searched the summer house belonging to Artur Asatryan and adjacent buildings, other territories on the criminal case investigated on the occasion of the fact of the likely kidnapping of the persons preparing an assassination against Artur Asatryan with “Don Pipo” nickname carried out by himself, in the result of which illegal arms and weapons were revealed.
Artur Asatryan was arrested upon Provisions 1, 2, 3 and 6 (“Kidnapping of three persons by the use of weapons or items used as a weapon and by use of violence threatening the health with in-advance agreement by a group of people”) of Article 131 and Part 2 (“Acquiring and keeping arms and weapons illegally with in-advance agreement by a group of persons”) of Article 235 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
Four more persons were arrested who are Russian citizens. The operative-investigative events carried out by the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia brought about information that the Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, the President of the “Union of Volunteer Soldiers”, Manvel Grigoryan had acquired and kept illegal arms and weapons with an in-advance agreement.
A criminal case was initiated in the Investigation Department of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia upon the provisions of Part 2 of Article 235 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
Within the frameworks of the case the NSS searched the house, summer house and other territories belonging to Manvel Grigoryan. Large numbers of arms and weapons kept illegally were revealed. The Member of Parliament of the Republic of Armenia was arrested upon Part 2 (“Acquiring and keeping arms and weapons illegally with in-advance agreement by a group of persons”) of Article 235 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia with the suspicion of the committed crime.
In concert with the order prescribed by Article 96 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia was urgently informed of the arrest of the Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia.

Notification: The suspect or the accused of the suspected crime is considered innocent unless his or her guilt is not proven in compliance with the rules of order prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia upon the issued verdict of the court.
