Aravot.am asked the head of the office of the Second President of the Republic of Armenia the following: “Mr. Soghomonyan, on June 18 Gyumri City Council made a decision to deprive Robert Kocharyan from the title of the honored citizen of Gyumri. How will you respond to this incident?”
“How should I respond? Robert Kocharyan has never had a weakness for titles and has asked no one to grant him the title of the honored citizen of Gyumri. I am unaware why the City Council has made such decision, who it has attempted to flatter by that or what purposes stand behind that decision and frankly speaking, I am not interested either. In any case, President Kocharyan will not change his attitude towards Gyumri because of 17 persons. He is still proud of the work carried out in the disaster zone in the years of his presidency. I think Gyumri people will never forget Kocharyan’s important role regardless of this or that decision of this or that City Council.”
