We talked about the recent Azerbaijani propaganda and military activity with the Adviser of the Artsakh President, Tigran Abrahamyan. Commenting on the statements made by the Azerbaijani side about the “liberation” of the village of Gyunnut and 11,000 hectares in Nakhichevan, our interlocutor noted that especially after the April war, when the opponent took control over some northern and southern territories, Azerbaijan tries to develop its propaganda on that direction to show as if they have “liberated” some territories.
“It is no coincidence that they made signboards with the name of Talish in 2016 as if they were already in Talish village. The same happened in the southern direction when they tried to show that they had taken over the Fizuli or Jabrail territory”, said Abrahamyan.
“The same is in case of Nakhichevan. It is a village under common observation between the positions. Maybe they have advanced for 100, 200 or 500 m in their territory and try to present it as if they have “liberated” the village”, said Abrahamyan.
In response to our remark that parralels are drawn between Azerbaijan’s propaganda today and before the April operation in 2016, and there is concern about border escalations that may take place later, Abrahamyan said that during the press conference, Hasanov announced without hesitation about preparations for the upcoming operations.
“During the press conference, the Azerbaijani Defense Minister openly stated that they are preparing their army for the upcoming military operations, noting that it depends on certain international realities. At the same time, various officials, experts, and members of the ruling party are constantly trying to show the legitimacy of launching military operations. The media also prepare to show the “legitimate grounds” that will allow them to go for military operations.That is they want to create at least a legitimate background to start military operations”, said Abrahamyan.
