According to preliminary results of parliamentary and presidential extraordinary elections held in Turkey on June 24, two Armenian candidates were elected as Majlis deputies.
Garo Paylan was elected MP of the 27th convocation of the parliament from the pro-Kurdish Democratic People’s Party. Garo Paylan, who was elected from the Diyarbakir electoral district, was nominated and elected for the previous convocation from the Istanbul electoral district.
Margar Yesayan from the ruling “Justice and Development Party” was elected as an MP from Istanbul’s second electoral district.
According to preliminary results, the picture of the Turkish parliament with 600 seats is as follows:
“Justice and Development Party”- 42.49 percent or 293 MPs
“Republican People’s Party”- 22.67 percent or 146 MPs
“Democratic People’s Party”- 11.62 percent or 67 MPs
“Nationalist Movement Party”- 11.13 percent or 50 MPs
“Good Part”- 10.01 percent or 44 MPs.
