Archbishop Aram Ateshian, the vicar of Constantinople Patriarch, congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the victory in the presidential elections.
In his congratulatory letter, Ateshian wrote that the elections open a new stage for Turkey’s democracy.
Describing Erdogan as an indisputable leader and hero of the current era of Turkey, Ateshian said they were satisfied with his reelection as president.
The Patriarch’s vicar expressed hope that due to the presidential administration system approved by these elections, the problems of minorities will be resolved more efficiently.
Leaders of other religious communities also congratulated Erdogan. The leader of the Armenian Catholic community Levon Zekian also sent a congratulatory message.
