A Security Council meeting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Noting that the Security Council held its first meeting after the formation of the new government, Prime Minister Pashinyan stated in part, “You know that the Security Council has been vested with more specific functions since April 9 and in accordance with Article 155 of the Constitution, the Security Council will have to define the main vectors of Armenia’s defense policy. Today’s meeting also aims to discuss issues in this framework and the future plans.”
The meeting discussed the RA Armed Forces Development Plan, the State Program for Development of Armament and Military Equipment, as well as ways of enhancing the troops’ fighting capacity in the exercise of combat duty. In his report, Defense Minister David Tonoyan dwelt on Defense Ministry’s efforts aimed at introducing more effective forms and methods of active defense.
